Michael -- when did you find your voice? Was it when you wrote A Paper Orchestra? I know you have been writing sitcoms for the past 28 years. Did your work product include your own voice, or was it suppressed in order to write somebody else's voice?

Great question. When you're writing on a tv show, your job isn't to have your own voice. You're supposed to capture the voice of the characters and the showrunner. That way every episode is consistent, regardless of who wrote it. Over the years, I've trained myself to be a really good mimic. Part of the struggle of writing A Paper Orchestra was discovering my own voice. Figuring out what I wanted to sound like, and how I wanted to tell my stories.
