What agents ask for before they'll represent you

I’ve been a TV writer for 28 years. Over the course of my career, I’ve been repped at numerous agencies: Broder Kurland Webb Uffner, APA, Endeavor, UTA and currently I’m at Verve.
In order to get signed by an agent, you obviously need excellent writing samples. Not samples that show your potential, but professional level scripts that can get you work today.
But there’s something else you need, and every single agent I’ve signed with has asked for it. What is it?
