In the script, do screenwriters try to make sure dialogue is read a certain way?
This is a common question. Screenwriters often have an idea how their lines should be performed. Anything short of their expectation might feel wrong to them.
Even worse, it might feel wrong to the audience.
So how do screenwriters protect against this? How much direction should they include in the script?
