A common complaint from aspiring writers is that they don’t have enough time to write. In their mind, writing has to look like renting a cozy cabin in the woods, turning off their electronic devices, and sitting at the keyboard eight hours a day, stopping long enough only to throw another log on the fire.
If you’re lucky enough to have a patron of the arts, maybe this is an accurate depiction.
But I say this as a professional writer, writing doesn’t have to look like that. It can look like something much more attainable, while still getting you great results.
(By the way, I don’t even like spending eight hours a day at the keyboard. It’s extremely hard to sustain that kind of creative energy. I only do it when I’m on deadline.)
