How to Prepare for a General Meeting

The first step in any screenwriter’s career is getting a General Meeting. This is usually a meeting with a producer or studio executive. Unlike a Pitch Meeting, the goal isn’t to sell your idea. The goal is to sell yourself.

With a successful General Meeting, your host will hopefully keep you in mind for future projects. Maybe they’ll help staff you on an existing TV show. Or maybe they’ll bring you back to pitch on an Open Writing Assignment.

Despite the vagueness of this meeting, there are several things you should do to prepare.
