How many scripts should an emerging writer have?

A common scenario: an aspiring writer finally finishes their first screenplay. They polish it, they love it, and they think, "This is it! This is the one that's going to get me discovered!" Now what?
Here's a harsh truth: one great script is rarely enough to launch a career.
Why not?
Imagine you're a studio executive. Someone sends you a fantastic script. You love it. You bring the writer in for a meeting. What's the first thing you're going to ask? "What else do you have?"
A writer a great script, and back up to prove it wasn’t a fluke.
So two right?
